ELSA offers AI-supported English practice with personalized feedback. It can help someone who wants repeatable speaking exercises outside a scheduled lesson. Define a communication goal, such as explaining a project clearly, instead of treating a high score as the only purpose of speaking.
Public website check. ELSA's public guide separates the free version, a seven-day trial, and paid-plan questions; this does not show pronunciation feedback in use.

What a classroom study can and cannot support
A
12-week quasi-experiment followed
60 Saudi university EFL students, 30 using ELSA Speak alongside classroom topics and 30 in teacher-led pronunciation activities without the app. The paper reported greater gains in rated accuracy, intonation and fluency for the app group. Its app group practiced about
30 minutes a day on average, so this is evidence about an intensive, guided course—not what a few casual drills will do.
The groups came from a convenience sample in one university, and the authors identify the small sample and controlled setting as limitations. They did not establish that the app correctly scores every accent, that gains persist, or that students transfer them to unscripted conversation. For a purchase decision, test the exact sound or speaking task you care about and compare confusing app feedback with a competent listener; keep a classroom result separate from a personal pronunciation guarantee.
What a live public word lookup showed
This confirms that a visitor can look up a specific word and inspect the displayed target without an account. It does not show whether ELSA would score the agent's speech accurately, identify a pronunciation error, or improve conversational intelligibility. No microphone was used and no returned speaking score was observed. If feedback accuracy matters, submit your own short phrase through an allowed practice route and compare any confusing correction with a competent listener.
